Hutton House teamed up with London-based digital studio Web.is.odes in the summer of 2025 to produce Root Awakening – a documentary about The Patch, told through the lens of volunteer Faye Simmons. Faye, who uses a wheelchair, first became involved with Hutton House as a volunteer receptionist, but has been involved with The Patch since the project started in 2020.

2025 saw the repayment of a $2.5 million loan to London Community Foundation’s Social Impact Fund by the London Particular Council of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. The bridge loan was used to accelerate the development of St. Vincent’s on Huron – a 73unit mixed-income housing development, where affordable units will be open to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

London Community Foundation’s Community Vitality grant program – one of the Foundation’s largest funding streams – has awarded over $1.45 million to support six projects in London and Middlesex County run by local charities. The first comprehensive evaluation report on the Health and Homelessness Whole of Community System Response was published in September. It was prepared by the Centre for Research in Health Equity and Social Inclusion (CRHESI) at Western University. The report highlights the significant progress that London has made in helping people experiencing chronic homelessness access stable housing through the innovative Hubs model and highly supportive housing.

London is experiencing a housing crisis, with affordable and supportive housing particularly hard to find – a fact that has been clear for some time, well before the pandemic.
When data from London Community Foundation’s Vital Signs report in 2015 pointed to an emerging shortage of affordable housing, our Board and committee members, staff, and partners started talking about ways to address the issue. We considered what we could accomplish by collaborating with a diverse range of partners, each bringing their unique strengths to the solution.

Pathways Employment Help Centre and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation received a Community Vitality grant in 2022 to fund two years of the innovative Building New Futures Together project, which taught practical construction skills and resulted in new homes being built for community members. Three years on from the grant, people are now living in the homes built through the project.

London Community Foundation was proud to support 33 charities and non-profits in London and Middlesex in 2023/2024 to help them adapt to the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding, totalling $1.3 million, helped organizations improve the efficacy, accessibility, and sustainability of the essential community services that they provide.
