London, ON: Construction is complete on four of the five new rental buildings at Village SoHo, a first-of-its-kind collaboration of six nonprofit housing developers building a mixed-income community on the former Victoria Hospital lands in London’s SoHo neighbourhood.
The Village SoHo partners are inviting Londoners to visit the new community at an Open House on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (rain or shine). Featuring live music, food trucks, facepainting and other family-friendly activities, the Open House is an opportunity for Londoners to tour the new buildings and experience the vibrant community.
“After six years of planning and development, the opening of four new rental buildings is a significant milestone that we look forward to celebrating with Londoners – many of whom have followed Village SoHo’s progress since the beginning,” said Greg Playford, a member of London Community Foundation’s Housing Action Committee, which helped to spearhead Village SoHo.
Village SoHo is a mixed-income development for individuals, couples and families from all walks of life. The community prioritizes livability and sustainability through environmentally friendly buildings, green spaces, underground parking, and accessibility to public transit.
More than half of the over 690 rental apartments in Village SoHo are classified as affordable, with the remainder at market rate. All buildings are fully wheelchair accessible in common areas, and over 30% of the units are designed to be fully barrier-free.
Convened by London Community Foundation, the Village SoHo partnership includes the Chelsea Green Home Society, Homes Unlimited, Indwell, London Affordable Housing Foundation, Residenza Affordable Housing, and Zerin Development Corporation.
The four new buildings featured in the Open House include:
- Chelsea Green Home Society – 373 Hill Street
- Homes Unlimited – 351 Hill Street
- London Affordable Housing Foundation – 385 Hill Street
- Zerin Development Corporation – 370 South Street
Model suites and tours are available, and rental agents will be on site.
Two heritage buildings on the property, the former War Memorial Children’s Hospital and the former Health Sciences Building, are being restored and repurposed by Indwell for deeply affordable supportive housing. Residenza Affordable Housing (88 Colborne Street) is under construction and slated to open in the summer of 2028.
