The London Community Foundation (LCF) announced today it has established a fund to support the Muslim community of London and Middlesex County in light of the horrific vehicle attack that killed a Muslim family Sunday evening.

The fund, named the Strong Together Fund, will be seeded with an initial gift of $10,000 from LCF. The funds will be directed to the London Muslim Mosque and the Muslim Resource Centre for Social Support and Integration (MRCSSI). All donations will flow directly to these two organizations to support the Muslim community during this difficult time.

“LCF stands in solidarity with our Muslim community and condemns this atrocious act of violent Islamophobia,” says Martha Powell President & CEO, London Community Foundation. “We grieve deeply for this family and for our community. I hope in the midst of this tragedy we can all come together to support the Muslim community in whatever ways we can. This type of hate has absolutely no place here.”

The Strong Together Fund will provide a centralized location for donations allowing LCF to pool gifts from groups and individuals wanting to give back and show their support for the London Muslim community. All gifts over $20 will be eligible for a tax receipt.

“LCF is committed to creating a community where everyone belongs, and as a community we must stand up against the racism and hatred that seek to divide us” – Martha Powell, President & CEO, London Community Foundation.
