Vision SoHo Alliance Announces New Name: Village SoHo

First model suites open at the end of May as the vision of the SoHo Alliance comes to life

London, ON: The Vision SoHo Alliance, a partnership of six non-profit housing developers building over 690 mixed-income rental apartments, announced today a new name and brand for the community: Village SoHo.

More information about Village SoHo, including rental details, can be found on the new Village SoHo website at www.VillageSoho.ca.

“We came together in 2020 as the Vision SoHo Alliance to help answer the need for affordable housing in London, fuelled by our collective vision of a strong, safe, and accessible community that celebrates the rich history and heritage of SoHo. Through the hard work and dedication of all the partners, we have fulfilled the vision of the SoHo Alliance to create Village SoHo: a vibrant and inclusive community within the dynamic SoHo neighbourhood,” says Sylvia Harris, Chair of the Vision SoHo Alliance.

Convened by the London Community Foundation, the Village SoHo partnership includes the Chelsea Green Home Society, Homes Unlimited, Indwell, London Affordable Housing Foundation, Residenza Affordable Housing, and Zerin Development Corporation.

Located on the former Victoria Hospital lands in the SoHo (South of Horton) neighbourhood, Village SoHo is a mixed-use development that prioritizes livability and sustainability through environmentally friendly buildings, greenspace, underground parking, and accessibility to public transit. The apartments will be rented at a wide spectrum of rates from market to affordable to deeply affordable to accommodate individuals, roommates, and families from many walks of life.

More than half of the apartments in Village SoHo will be affordable. Some of the housing will also offer social support for health and wellness. All buildings will be fully wheelchair accessible in common areas, and over 30% of the units are designed to be fully barrier-free. Two heritage buildings on the property, the former War Memorial Children’s Hospital and the former Health Sciences Building, are being restored and repurposed by Indwell.

The first Village SoHo model suites, in the Zerin Development building at 370 South Street, will open for public viewing at the end of May 2025. The expected occupancy dates for each of the buildings are:

  • Zerin Development Corp. (370 South Street): fall 2025

  • Homes Unlimited (351 Hill Street): winter 2025

  • Chelsea Green Home Society (373 Hill Street): early 2026

  • Indwell (392 South Street): summer 2026

  • Indwell: (346 South Street): winter 2027
