Verna Dorothy (Vanstone) Davis was my grandmother. Born in 1900, she had a profound impact on my life. Much of what I know about kindness, compassion, generosity and grace was learned at her knee.
Over the course of her life, Verna was a school teacher, librarian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many. She and my grandfather, Walter Davis, worked to establish the Byron Branch Library and Byron United Church. This fund emulates that desire to make our community a better place in which to work and live.
Since its inception in 2004, the Verna D. Davis Family Foundation has granted to organizations that are making a difference in the lives of people in the London area and beyond. Our areas of interest include the arts, education, health care, affordable housing, international aid and more.
