Brenda MacKay Memorial Fund

Brenda MacKay

The Brenda MacKay Memorial Fund was created to:

  • Financially support Christian education, missions and service

  • Honour Brenda for her dedication to Bible Study, teaching and Christian service

Brenda Margaret MacKay was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick. She graduated as an RN from Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing, worked as a nurse when not taking time off to raise her family and finished her nursing career at Shouldice Hospital in Thornhill.

Brenda married her husband Bill in 1967. She was the proud mother of Nancy and Cathy and the proud grandmother of Nathan, Mandy, Tia, Mya and Ben.

Studying the Bible, living by Biblical principles and sharing what she learned characterized Brenda’s life. She was born into a Christian family and graduated high school from the United Baptist Bible Training School in Moncton. She and Bill attended Bible-believing churches where they could worship, learn and fellowship as Bill was transferred to different communities.

Brenda loved music, was part of a quartet and sang in several church choirs. While attending Bayview Glen Church in Thornhill, she and Bill led Navigators 2:7 Bible Study groups in their home and Brenda also taught ladies’ Bible Study groups. She obtained her Master of Theological Studies from Ontario Theological Seminary in 1992.

Brenda loved travel because she saw it is an opportunity to see and enjoy more of God’s creation. The MacKays’ RV travels took them across Canada and the US, trying to identify every bird along the route. Next to her love of God and her family was her love of nature and travel.

Brenda positively impacted many lives as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, a capable nurse, a skilled Bible teacher and even as a person who needed care during the latter stage of her life. The purpose of the Brenda MacKay Memorial Fund is to carry on her legacy.

The advisors to the fund are Brenda’s husband and family. Since being established in 2014, the fund has contributed to the following:

  • The Brenda MacKay Scholarship, awarded annually to a Master’s student at Tyndale University, College and Seminary

  • Missions and church camp programs
