Sustainable Development Goals

Connecting local impact to global change

In 2015 UN member countries adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals encompass elements of global well-being that we as nations need to work together to achieve a sustainable future for all. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals target economic, social and environmental development. The mission is to end global poverty, protect our planet and ensure no one is left behind.

Our movement has a significant role to play. Achieving these goals starts at the local level – that’s where we come in. Communities all over the world must take leadership in address these issues if we wish to achieve these global goals. Our Vital Signs program is uniquely positioned to tackle these goals at a local level. As our society becomes increasingly globalized it becomes essential to connect our efforts locally to what is happening at a global scale.

See how the 17 Goals relate to our Vital Signs framework and its indicators.
