London Community Foundation Releases 2011 Award Nomination and Grant Applications to Benefit Youth

(London ON) London Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2011 Acorn Fund Grant and the 2011 J. Allyn Taylor Award, both intended to benefit youth in our community, are now underway.

The Acorn Fund for Youth provides funding for youth-led projects and initiatives in London and Middlesex County. This fund was established in 1998 with initial funding from the Community Fund and from the Greg Brydon Memorial Trust Fund at Thames Valley. Since 1998, the Acorn Fund for Youth at London Community Foundation has supported youth-led projects and initiatives in London and Middlesex County. The Foundation's Youth in Philanthropy Committee is responsible for awarding Acorn grants, which generally range from $300 to $1,500.

The J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award recognizes one high school student for commendable volunteer contributions that demonstrate leadership and commitment to his or her community. Nominees must be a student in one of the secondary schools in London or Middlesex County of the Thames Valley District School Board or London District Catholic School Board. The winning recipient will receive a certificate with a $500 donation to the resource centre or charity of the winner’s choice, as well as $500 to his/her chosen Canadian post-secondary educational institution.
