Nov. 24, 2017

Ann Fleming and Raghad ElniwairiThe J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award is presented to a student who exhibits outstanding service to, and is actively involved in leadership activities in his/her community. Nominees must be grade 10 or 11 students attending a school located in London or Middlesex County within a publicly funded school board. The recipient recieves a $500 donation to the charity of their choice and $1,500 towards their post secondary education.

This year's recipient is Raghad Elniwairi. Raghad shows a clear passion for helping young people feel hopeful, rather than helpless, about seeking change and creating their own futures. She campaigned to become the Ward 12 youth councillor, working with fellow students and school leadership to hear the perspectives of youth in White Oaks. A highly curious, welcoming and enthusiastic young person, her authentic approach to relationship building and community organizing should be a model for leaders everywhere.

Raghad has chosen to grant her $500 to the Islamic Relief Fund.

Congratulations, Raghad!
