Sep. 21, 2017

The J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award recognizes students who exhibit outstanding service and are actively involved in their community. The award pays tribute to Foundation founder, J. Allyn Taylor, who was affectionately dubbed “Mr. London” for his passion for giving back to the community. The award recipient receives $2,000: $500 is distributed to the recipient's charity of choice and $1,500 to a Canadian post-secondary institution for the recipient's education.

Congratulations to the 2016 Recipient: Majd Radhaa!

Majd is a Youth Director on the Youth Council with the South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SLNRC) and is the youth representative on the Board of Directors. When Majd came to Canada from Syria four years ago, he wanted to become involved in whatever he could. He began volunteering with SLNRC assisting with various programs, activities and special events. Over the past three years he has volunteered not only with SLNRC but through many initiatives at his high school and through his church.

Despite having experienced so much adversity in his young life, Majd has the ambition, motivation and eagerness to give back to others. He has the heart to create and make change, especially for youth and those who are new to Canada. He is actively contributing his ideas to create a more inclusive Youth Centre and meet the needs of all youth in the South London community.

Majd offers his ideas, assistance and dedication with whatever he is involved with and truly make a difference not only in the South London community, but city wide!
