A new mission and vision statement reflect changes in how the Foundation perceives its role in the new age of philanthropy.

The Board of the Community Foundation, together with C.E.O. Martha Powell, have been working together diligently this past year on a long range strategic plan, setting new goals to guide the Foundation through the next three years. 

After careful deliberation, the Foundation Board also decided that it was time to update the Mission and Vision Statement. The refined Mission Statement is concise and to the point.

Through the power of giving we create a vibrant and caring community by investing strategically in innovative community-based solutions. 

This new Mission Statement expresses the proud legacy of the Community Foundation as a powerful philanthropic vehicle and emphasizes a collaborative, strategic approach to granting.

The following new Vision Statement is indeed an ambitious one, but one that will inspire pride to Foundation donors, staff and community members:

A community working together so that each member has the opportunity for an enriched quality of life. 

This vision statement reflects not only how the Community Foundation will position itself in London and Middlesex, but encompasses the entire movement of community foundations across Canada who work on the premise that community vitality is the unique spirit that flourishes when people believe their community holds possibilities for everyone.

What will not change is the Foundation’s commitment to this community in providing long-term resources for long-term solutions and will continue to look for the best and most prudent ways to invest its assets to meet its mission.

2012 - 2014 Strategic Goals 

The overarching theme of the 2012 – 2014 strategic plan, as evidenced in the new mission and visions statements, is one of action.

Our overarching theme is to transition to a foundation that is more impactful, more transformational in its granting and community investments, and a catalyst to drive community based solutions and change.

Our first goal: To Lead Strategically

 Build on our partnership and convening successes as well as our knowledge of community issues. Because we take the broadest view of what a community is and what it needs to succeed, we can grant funds to the widest possible range of organizations and initiatives. The knowledge gained from this activity helps us in our partnerships with other organizations who are driving change to various issues in our community.

Our second goal: Inspire Innovative Solutions Through the Power of Giving

Enhance our ability to engage existing and new philanthropists in our strategic vision by offering new ways to give and provide exemplary donor stewardship and service.  We will continue to bring donors to the table as community builders, and help them formulate and realize their philanthropic goals, matching their interests and concerns with community needs and organizations, and finding innovative and responsible ways to give their investments lasting impact.

Our third goal:  Build a Strong Foundation

On being credible and reputable stewards of community resources. We are committed to being accountable, responsive and transparent. Through organizational excellence we will successfully achieve our vision, mission and goals, making people proud to invest as a donor in the Foundation. 

On Thursday December 1st, London Community Foundation held a gathering inviting people to learn of the new plan, the new vision and mission statement.
