J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award

The J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award was created in 1983 by London Community Foundation to honour J. Allyn Taylor, former President of Canada Trust and an extraordinary community leader. Affectionately dubbed "Mr. London," he was instrumental in revitalizing London Community Foundation in 1979 and served as Honorary Chair of the Foundation's Board until his death in 2006.

In past years the J. Allyn Taylor Community Service Award has recognized a graduating high school student who exhibited outstanding service to his/her school community and to community organizations.

In later years, in keeping with our focus on building strong neighbourhoods through youth, the Board of London Community Foundation has determined that the award will recognize a high school student in grade nine, ten or eleven who has worked to make his or her neighbourhood a better place.

The award recipient will be a student in one of the secondary schools in London or Middlesex County that is under the auspices of the Thames Valley District School Board or London District Catholic School Board. The award is accompanied by a $500 grant to the recipient’s neighbourhood resource centre or charity of choice, and $500 awarded to a post-secondary institution in Canada for the recipient's education.
