Beryl Ivey
She was described as a “great Canadian,” “one of our country’s leading philanthropists,” and “a remarkable force.” Beryl Ivey, who died on Christmas Day 2007, was a woman of grace, energy, wisdom and generosity. She played an important role in the growth and development of London Community Foundation, as she did in many not-for-profit organizations in our community and far beyond.
At London Community Foundation, she served on the Board and was made an Honorary Director. She also established three funds – the Beryl Ivey Endowment for the Arts, the Beryl Ivey Endowment for the Environment, and the Beryl Ivey Women’s Community House Endowment Fund – and contributed to endowment funds held by the Foundation for several other organizations.
In keeping with the way she lived, Ivey made a series of generous bequests, making contributions to other endowed funds and seeding a new registered charity endowment fund for ReForest London.
For the Iveys and many others, philanthropy is a joy shared by all members of the family. You don't need a great deal of wealth, and it does not have to be complicated.
