Greg is a member of the Community Foundation board. I am so pleased to read that Greg has been named to the Mayor’s 2012 Honours List in recognition of his work in affordable housing.

Write up taken from the City of London’s website:

Greg Playford believes in affordable housing and his life’s work and his community involvement speaks volumes about his commitment to helping people. Greg has been assisting non-profit and co-op housing projects since 1977 in his role at CMHC and then with his work with the National Housing Act. As President of Home Unlimited, he played a key role in the establishment of two affordable housing projects in London that resulted in 142 units. He has also served as a consultant on a number of other projects developed under the Canada Ontario Affordable Housing Program.

Working as a consultant, Greg has assisted many groups and organizations in navigating the affordable housing system. The projects include the Residenza Italiana on Hamilton Road that opened in November 2011 with 52 affordable rental units for seniors. Another east London development is the Centretown project. Targeted to open for tenants in the fall of 2012, it will include street level retail space as well as 72 affordable units for seniors. This complex received Renewable Energy Funding for geothermal heat and solar hot water.

Community action and participation has always been a part of Greg’s life and his volunteer time includes serving as Chair of the City of London Community Housing Advisory Committee, Vice-Chair of the London & Middlesex Housing Authority, and President of Home Unlimited.
