For 10 years, Engage! London has encouraged young professionals from various backgrounds to challenge their thinking. Through innovative programming, participants are able to connect with mentors and experience the good in doing good for the community.

Engage! London’s 5 month long journey which immerses participants in real life case studies, came to an end on Thursday May 4th, 2017 at the London Club. Acting as consultants to their charity case studies, three teams were given the opportunity to present their findings and recommendations to three local nonprofit organizations: Anova, Raoul Wallenberg Centre, and Museum London.

Throughout the process, participants learned how complex and dynamic non-profit organizations really are. They were able to explore the inner workings of organizations they otherwise normally would not have gravitated towards. Mentors guided participants to learn how they can use their time, talent and treasure to make a positive impact in areas they are most passionate about within the community.

I was able to meet like minded individuals who care about making a difference in London," says Laurie Lockington-Wong. "I learned more about the positive impacts community organizations have within London and the partnerships that strengthen their initiatives in creating a smart and caring community.”

Eager to make the most out of such a unique learning experience, each team clearly and passionately proposed their recommendations at the Engage wrap-up event, igniting eye opening discussions around the issues they have identified within the organizations. Throughout the presentations, representatives from each charity were able to recognize their potential for great opportunities and change from a different perspective.

Attending the final event of Engage! London 2017 was an invaluable experience. We witnessed first hand, not only leaders but organizations being built. London Community Foundation is about engaging people and building long lasting friendships and partnerships; which was made evident by returning alumni from the program who were also in attendance.

London Community Foundation programs such as Engage! London are important to community vitality and well being. Engage not only gives professionals the opportunity to network, build their skill set and push their limits, but, they are simultaneously giving back to the community.

This is your foundation, and Engage London is just one of the many ways we continue to invest in community development and build a strong and resilient community," said Diane Silva, Director of Philanthropy.

The program’s success would not have been possible without the commitment of our sponsor- Great West Life, London Life, and Canada Life. London Community Foundation is honoured to have such dedicated sponsors who have played a monumental role in running the program. We would like to thank them for investing in our participants and our community. By supporting Engage! London you are helping build the leaders of tomorrow.
